Check Out Our Great Sponsors!

Is there a cost to participate?
Yes, there is a $70 fee per team (or $35 per person).

What if I don't have a Foursquare Account?
That's easy -- create one!  If you go to Foursquare you can create an account and import your Twitter and Facebook friends in a flash.  You should also add a Foursquare app to your smartphone so you can check in when you get to wherever you're going.  You can download the Foursquare app to your phone by visiting Foursquare.com from your handheld device.

What if I don't have 300 followers on Twitter?
Apply for the challenge
anyway.  We're looking for people who want to engage and have a great time.  We can help you get to 300 followers.  We will tweet you, #followfriday you and list you.  Before you know it, you will have 30,000 followers. (Well, maybe, if you're really good).

What if I don't have 200 Facebook friends?
Only the team captain needs to have 200 friends on Facebook.  Apply for the challenge anyway -- we are looking for social media lovers!  Just be sure to write in your team bio that you LOVE social media and tell us why you want to be in the challenge.

I am worried about privacy.  Do I have to leave my Facebook profile public?
Yes and no.  Only the team captain must keep their profile public for 24 hours.  If you are worried about privacy, this may not be the right challenge for you because this is a public experience. You are creating a public profile for your team, you will be videotaped and your photos may be used to promote the event.  It is something to think about.  Maybe your teammate is more comfortable with having portions of their profile visible to the public and that person can be the team captain.

What's more, you don't have to make your Facebook profile fully public.  Only your wall privacy settings must be set to public, as well as the privacy settings for photos uploaded to your mobile uploads folder. You must agree to have both your wall and your mobile uploads set to public or "Anyone Can View" for 24 hours.  We need these items to remain public from Noon on Saturday, August 14, 2010 until Noon on Sunday, August 15, 2010.  Your wall and mobile uploads will be where we obtain the photo proof of the items you've obtained.

Do I have to sign up as a team?
Yes.  Teams can only be comprised of two persons.

What is the responsibility of the Team Captain?
The team captain is the person who will be in charge of posting to the findings to their social media pages.  Each team must identify a "captain" and we will weigh that person's information. Only the team captain has to leave their profiles public and only the team captain has to post to Foursquare, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

Do we both need smartphones?
No.  Since each team will have one designated member to post their items, only one person needs to have a smartphone.  However, it's a good idea to have a backup smartphone, just in case.

ON Event Day

What should I expect on the day of the event?
FIJI Water Urban Hunt will provide you with a backpack to carry your belongings.  You will also get a CTA one-day pass and a Shoreline Water taxi pass (one way).

It is up to you to have a valid drivers license or government issued ID, map, CTA map, phone charger, plastic baggy for your cell phone (if you go kayaking) and your waiver signed.  Wear shoes that you can walk in and comfortable, light weight clothing.

What if there are multiple venues listed on Foursquare?  Which one do we pick to check-in?
One way to determine if you are selecting the right venue on Foursquare is to select the one with the correct address.  You can also look for most check-ins or most tips written for that venue.

What happens if Twitter, Foursquare, YouTube, or Facebook are down?
The FIJI Water Urban Hunt is not responsible for any system outages, failures, “dead zones,” or any other technical difficulties that you, your teammate, or any of the online properties included in the challenge may have. If there is some colossal #failwhale on the day of the event, we will revert to Plan B.  (Plan B will be determined in real time.)

Can I bring my girlfriend, boyfriend, brother, sister, and/or roommate to the after party?
Yes.  Everyone is welcome to join us at the after party sponsored by VeeV Vodka (location is to be determined).
